A NEW BISTRO IN TOWN

Bistros are the new thing in the pink city. With more and more localities taking to travelling and exploring cuisines and cultures the demand for global cuisine and spaces to chill is on the rise. So if you want to spend a couple of hours just hanging and want to explore some global cuisine then city definitely has a few great options to offer. Taruveda is the latest addition to the list.

Tucked away in a green corner at Jacob house, Civil Lines- Taruveda is a lovely place to spend a couple of hours. They have a lifestyle store selling home decor & a host of organic products from candles  & incense to organic pillows etc. Its on the top floor of a bungalow and has a verandah as well as inside sitting. Done up in a very rustic yet modern minimalistic way its a great place to chill and enjoy a host of global cuisine. My personal favorites are the grilled basa & Crepe Sud ( a salty crepe with amazing fish & musroom sauce filling). The menu is elaborate & consists of salads, pastas, crepes, Waffles, Panini etc. An average spend of 500 INR per person will get your tummy full. A great place for a bite and conversations.

CRAVING SOME KEBABS?

Craving some delicious kebabs??? Go to Lucknow Junction.

Its a small kiosk just opposite the KFC outlet at the Evershine Tower, Vaishali Nagar. If you are expecting fancy dining then just forget it! They also pack very well so you can order and take it home or sit in your car and eat. However the actual fun is to stand on one of these little stand-up tables ( 4 people can stand and eat around them)  and hog!!

Update: Jan-2016
Its not a kiosk anymore and has become a small restaurant at the same mall and has been renamed as House on Fire. The prices have gone up by 20% but its still cheap and good mughlai food.
The making of ulta tawa paratha

The Galauti kebabs

Ulta tawa paratha

hopefully you have digested the idea of standing around the tables and managing you must not delay and order for:

Galauti Kebab with Ulta tawa paratha, Mutton Tawa Boti & Tandoori Legs or chicken Malai tikka.

The Menu consists of a variety of Indian delicacies like Murg Tikka, Malai Tikka, Seekh kebab, Murg Afgani, Tandoori leg, Biryani, Mughlai Paratha etc that are common to all tandoori places.

Most of the stuff is good and affordable but this place really rocks for above mentioned three things. The Galauti takes hours of preparation and is served as a platter. You get 2 ulta tawa paratha with 4 pieces of Galautis for INR 125/-  The Tawa mutton boti is also priced at INR 125 and is decent for 2 , the tandoori legs consisting 2 pcs are also priced at INR 125/- These are not your ordinary tandoori legs. After hours of marination and grilling in the tandoor these are topped with wipped fresh cream mixed with elaichi (cardamom) and a few other Indian spices. All in all 2 people can have a great meal for INR 500/-
